Bimosedaa works with members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in navigating addictions recovery, withdrawal management services, and detox and stabilization services.
Bimosedaa (an Ojibwe word that translates into English as “Let’s walk together”) was created because there is a lack of designated support for 2SLGBTQIA+ people when it comes to addictions and withdrawal management services in Manitoba. There are different systemic and structural barriers the 2SLGBTQIA+ community faces, and our goal is to help advocate and support them along their journeys.
The Bimosedaa team’s goal is to “walk behind” the individual – providing support while letting the individual lead the journey. We accompany folks, rather than determining what they should do and when.
