Kelly’s Corner

Kelly’s Corner is a transitional residence for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks who are exiting encampment living or are otherwise absolutely unsheltered.

During their time at Kelly’s residents stay in a homey, communal environment as they get support accessing services and navigating the process of obtaining stable, independent housing. This includes direct support in things like making medical appointments and getting prescriptions filled, getting identification documents, setting up bank accounts, and learning about how to make a budget and how to file your taxes.

Help For Everyone

Kelly’s Corner supports folks throughout the process of getting housed, including after! “Graduates” of Kelly’s Corner can still consider Kelly’s a home where they can come to get support if in crisis or having a tough time. Moving out isn’t a goodbye.

The community focus of Kelly’s Corner is by design. People who choose to live in encampments generally do so because they feel safer living with other people. Replicating that feeling of safety in numbers and being around people who have your back is key to making Kelly’s Corner a place residents want to be.

As with all Sunshine House programming, residents have a big say in what happens at Kelly’s Corner. The Peer meetings that led up to the opening of Kelly’s have given way to regular Resident Meetings, where guidelines for living together are created collaboratively.
